Pete Clarke - Touchline Critic
Like Darren Anderton, this Sicknote enjoys nothing more than standing on the Palace Court touchline talking football rather than playing it. An avid Liverpool supporter, Pete feels he has to watch Palace Court as he needs to see at least one decent game of football a weekend as he’s not getting it from his beloved Anfield. The reason, however, for last years golden-boy (as the end of year trophy cabinet suggests!) standing on the sidelines is due to a broken leg sustained in a horrific tackle against South Cheriton last year. Horrific as it was, my sources say that his leg actually healed months ago, being no more than a hairline fracture, but rather than get back on the pitch Pete still thinks he can play the sympathy vote until next season. This may be the case at home Pete, but please…. His speed and skill are sorely missed on the left hand side of the pitch, as they were when he was actually playing. His non-stop running, however, was always a benefit to those less-fit (whoever they may have been!) playing in front of him. Pete likes to make an effort and be well turned out for his pitch-side appearances, but it goes a bit too far when I find him and Jordan Collins discussing the pros and cons of different hair products on the touchline (this really is true, I actually heard this away at Dextra). Remember, this is a man’s game Pete, not a fashion show!!!!
